‘I will give you A’: Project supervisor response trends after an unserious final year student sends N400K to his account
An alleged WhatsApp conversation between a project supervisor and a final-year student has gone viral online, sparking widespread reactions across social media.
The exchange highlights issues of academic seriousness and responsibility, while also reflecting the popular notions that “money is the root of all evil” and, paradoxically, that “there is nothing money cannot solve.”
In the chat, the supervisor reprimanded the student for being unserious, noting that despite repeated instructions, the student had failed to submit a copy of his project.
The lecturer further warned the student to make inquiries from past seniors about his strictness, adding that failure to submit the project could result in an extra academic year.
The project supervisor said, “You are not serious at all. I told you to send me a copy of your project, and you have not.”
“Go and ask about me, I don’t play all, you definitely want to come back next year.”
The student responded by sending the sum of N400K (Four hundred Thousand Naira) to the lecturer at around 8:15 PM.
The lecturer responded swiftly around 8:17 PM by saying that he would give the unserious student an A, meaning distinction in the project.
