In the interest of truth, democratic accountability, and the preservation of Nigeria’s hard-won democracy, I find it necessary to address recent reactions to my strong but factual characterization of certain opposition figures as engaging in activities tantamount to political terrorism.
Let me state clearly and for the record: I stand firmly by every word I have uttered regarding the dangerous political machinations of Mr. Peter Obi, Joe Ajaero, Ireti Kinjibe, Prof. Udubuaku and Darlinton Nwokocha. These are not careless accusations made in the heat of political passion, but serious conclusions drawn from observable patterns of behavior that threaten the very foundations of our democratic system.
If these individuals truly believe my statements to be defamatory or without merit, I welcome – indeed, I challenge them – to seek legal redress in the competent courts of our land. The courtroom, not the court of public opinion fueled by social media sensationalism, is the appropriate arena to determine the truth of these grave allegations.
The Context of My Assertions
In recent months, Nigeria has witnessed a disturbing trend where legitimate political opposition has crossed the line into what can only be described as systematic attempts to undermine constitutional order. We have moved beyond healthy democratic dissent into dangerous territory where certain actors appear determined to render the country ungovernable through:
The deliberate propagation of false narratives
The incitement of public unrest
The calculated sabotage of economic confidence
The encouragement of civil disobedience bordering on insurrection
On Peter Obi’s Destructive Opposition
Since his electoral defeat in February 2023, Mr. Obi has transformed what should have been a statesmanlike opposition role into a relentless campaign of national demarketing. His pattern is unmistakable:
He has not conceded defeat despite the Supreme Court affirmation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR as the Duly Elected President
Peter Obi has not congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Complete silence on the escalating insecurity in his Southeast stronghold
Immediate, hyperbolic condemnation of any security incident in other regions
Consistent undermining of economic confidence through alarmist rhetoric
Refusal to acknowledge any positive development under the Tinubu administration
This goes beyond normal political opposition – it represents a deliberate strategy to create the false impression of a failed state. If Mr. Obi disputes this characterization, I invite him to test it in court.
My Life Under Threat
It has become necessary to address two critical developments following my recent exposé on the subversive activities of certain opposition elements.
First, I must report that since making these revelations, I have been subjected to a torrent of death threats from supporters of Peter Obi, creating a genuine fear for my personal safety and that of my family members. Let me state unequivocally that should any harm befall me or my family, Peter Obi and his violent supporters must be held directly accountable. This climate of intimidation reflects the very political terrorism I previously warned about, and it is unacceptable in a constitutional democracy.
Secondly, Peter Obi needs to be reminded that Nigeria now has a duly elected President who not only won a legitimate mandate through the ballot box but also had this victory conclusively affirmed by the Supreme Court. It is both shameful and dangerous that Obi continues to employ primitive tactics and crude self-help measures in his desperate quest for power, refusing to accept the will of the Nigerian people as expressed through both the polls and the judiciary.
His actions mirror the same undemocratic tendencies he displayed during his tenure as Anambra governor and reveal a disturbing pattern of resorting to extra-constitutional means when electoral outcomes don’t favor him.
I stand firmly by all my previous statements and welcome the opportunity to substantiate them in any court of competent jurisdiction. The days of political violence and intimidation must end, and those who cannot accept democratic defeat must face the full consequences of their actions.
On Joe Ajaero’s Dangerous Adventurism
The NLC President stands accused of serious offenses including: Alleged provision of NLC facilities for activities related to terrorism financing.
The attempted organization of protests clearly designed to provoke violent confrontation.
The promotion of civil disobedience that crossed into sedition.
With treason charges pending against him, Ajaero’s recent activities raise fundamental questions about where legitimate labor activism ends and political subversion begins.
I am fully prepared to substantiate every claim with documented evidence. Present witnesses to corroborate these serious allegations and subject my assertions to the most rigorous judicial scrutiny.
The days of making wild accusations in the media only to retreat when challenged must end. If these individuals have nothing to hide, they should welcome this opportunity for judicial clarity.
Nigeria’s democracy is too precious to be sacrificed on the altar of political ambition. I make no apology for sounding the alarm about activities I genuinely believe threaten our national stability.
