I remain PDP member “for life” – Former VP Sambo

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring his membership of the party “for life”.

His Excellency Sambo made this known while receiving members of the PDP national leadership who paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja. He pledged his full support for the rebuilding and repositioning efforts of the party under the leadership of the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki–led National Working Committee (NWC).

According to the former Vice President, the PDP remains the platform through which he has contributed to Nigeria’s democratic development, adding that he would continue to support all genuine efforts aimed at strengthening the party and restoring its prominence on the national political scene.

Earlier, the National Chairman of the PDP, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, said the visit was to brief Sambo on the current state of the party, including its prospects and challenges, and to seek his guidance and support for ongoing reforms. Turaki commended Sambo and other key figures of the Jonathan administration for their sacrifices in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy, particularly during the 2015 general elections.

Also speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, expressed optimism about the party’s future, noting that the support of elder statesmen like Sambo would significantly strengthen ongoing repositioning efforts.

Other party leaders present at the meeting included Senator Jonah Jang, former Governor of Plateau State; Professor Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information; Hajiya Inna Ciroma, former Minister of Women Affairs; and Hon. Frederick Agbedi, Leader of the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives. They jointly expressed confidence that the PDP is on a steady path to recovery and electoral competitiveness.

The PDP leadership reiterated that the visit to Sambo was part of the party’s broader nationwide consultative engagements with critical stakeholders, aimed at rebuilding, strengthening, and repositioning the party ahead of forthcoming elections.
