“I Don’t Know Who To Blame” – Nigerian Man Laments After FRSC Traffic Fine Message Allegedly Drains His Account
Nigerian comedian MC Monica has raised the alarm after allegedly losing millions of naira from his bank account after responding to a fake road traffic violation message.
His claim comes as the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, warns Nigerians about fraudulent messages directing motorists to a fake website designed to obtain their personal and financial information.

Nigerian comedian MC Monica has alleged that millions of naira were wiped from his bank account after he clicked on a link contained in a fake road traffic violation message.
The comedian said he received what appeared to be a message from the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, informing him of a traffic violation and directing him to make a payment.
According to him, he clicked the link and paid a ₦5 fine, only to wake up the following morning and discover that a large amount of money had been taken from his account.
“I don’t know who to blame, whether it was my service provider or the Road Safety officials. Yesterday, I received a message about a Road Safety violation. I clicked the link and paid a fine of just ₦5, only to wake up this morning and discover that millions of naira had been wiped from my account.”
His experience comes as FRSC has issued a warning over an ongoing scam involving fake traffic offence messages.
The agency said fraudsters were sending unsolicited messages claiming that recipients had committed new road traffic offences and directing them to a fraudulent website impersonating FRSC. The Corps specifically disowned the website being circulated and said it had no affiliation with the agency.
FRSC urged motorists not to click suspicious links, make payments through unsolicited messages or disclose banking and other sensitive information. The agency said its official website is frsc.gov.ng.
The development has sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians sharing similar experiences and others blaming victims for clicking unfamiliar links.Geographic Reference
