Husband Machetes Wife following disputes on Community and Family Taboos Ekiti.
A mother of five narrowly escaped death when her husband, identified as Ojapo Lucky, assaulted her with a machete in Igede Ekiti following disputes concerning community and family taboos.
The conflict between the couple reportedly began in April 2023 due to disagreements over these same issues, which ultimately led to their separation and the wife taking custody of their children.
Video evidence indicates that Mrs. Lucky Hannah, who has been married to the man for twenty years, took the children away from the household after the breakup to protect them from potential harm. Since then, she has been solely responsible for their care, as the husband has shown no concern for their welfare.
On October 31, 2025, while Mrs. Hannah was working in her shop in the Ilamoye area of Igede Ekiti, her husband entered the premises carrying a concealed machete and informed her that it would be her last day alive.
During the ensuing attack, the woman attempted to flee the shop to seek safety. In the process, she sustained serious injuries to her hand, head, and other parts of her body.
The husband initially attempted to decapitate her, but she raised her arm in defense, which prevented the fatal blow but resulted in severe damage to her hand.
Additional video footage shows the injured woman’s hand with significant tissue loss as a result of her efforts to protect herself.
Her cries for help alerted residents, who intervened and transported her to the nearest medical facility in Iyin Ekiti. She was later transferred to a hospital in Ado Ekiti after losing consciousness due to substantial blood loss.
The husband was apprehended by community members while attempting to flee and was subsequently handed over to law enforcement for investigation and legal action.
In an interview, the injured wife disclosed that she had one child prior to marrying the man and later had four children with him.
