How Nasir Elrufai crîppled me, made me suffer psychosis–Nigerian writer, Onyeka Nwelue reveals
Award winning Nigerian writer, Onyeka Nwelue alleges that former governor Nasir El-rufai ruined his life.
Through his X account, the award winning Nigerian writer, narrated how Nasir Elrufai during his governorship administration in Kaduna State, used his influence to “deal with him” by influencing his dismissal as an academic visitor at the University of Oxford.
According to him, his relationship with controversial Nigerian journalist, David Hundeyin whom he invited to the University of Oxford, triggered Nasir El-rufai and others who then influenced his dismissal at the University of Oxford.
It took me almost 2 years, to get into the University of Oxford, as an Academic Visitor without a degree. I invited guests, using the university’s logo without a problem. The Home Office recognized me respectfully and had my number on speed dial to confirm whomever I invited to the UK, for visa. From the moment I invited David Hundeyin, I realized I had more enemies that I didn’t know about”, he stated.
Director Award in 2018, explicitly accused Nasir El-rufai of being behind his ordeal which degenerated into health crises for him.
My dismissal from Oxford was orchestrated by Mr. El-Rufai, which led to ruining of my life and a career I had worked on since I was 12 years old and then, all kinds of health issues followed: psychosis, diabetes and now I am crippled”, he stated.
He added that following Nasir El-rufai’s fallout with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he reached out to him to pacify him: ” By the time he fell out with Tinubu, he began responding to me and he said to me: “Prof Adebanwi is in Nigeria now. I hope to see him. I will raise your subject. He knows you better and more familiar with the facts. I will revert then”.
Onyeka Nwelue highlighted how the members of Nasir El-rufai’s family maliciously ignored him when he reached out to them to help him connect with Nasir El-rufai.
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and my aunt served in the same cabinet as Ministers but he didn’t care. He was one of the chief sponsors of the African Studies Centre. While he dealt with me, he remained inaccessible to me and his children ghosted me when I approached them to speak to their father”.
