How Fubara Outsmarted Wike, Put Him In Difficult Position– Bashir Ahmad Reveals

Bashir Ahmad, former presidential aide to late president Muhammadu Buhari, claims that Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara has wittingly arm twisted his political benefactor, Nyesom Wike in their ongoing political feud.

Bashir Ahmad made the statement via his X (Twitter) handle on 5th of January in his reaction to Nyesom Wike’s tour of local government areas in Rivers state and also his verbal attacks on national secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), senator Ajibola Bashiru whom he warned sternly to steer of Rivers state politics.

Hence, Bashir Ahmad stated that governor Sim Fubara gained advantage over Nyesom Wike in their ongoing battle for supremacy when the governor defected to the ruling party, APC. He explained that the governor being a member of the ruling party accorded him some privileges which includes support from the presidency and the national leadership of the party as being demonstrated by the national chairman as well as secretary of the ruling party.

He argued that the party’s leadership will not allow its elected officials to be intimidated by politicians who are not members of the party.

“The smartest decision taken by the Governor of Rivers State, members of the State Assembly and the local government chairmen in the state was aligning with the APC and leaving Wike behind in the PDP. That move changes the entire power equation. Being in the ruling party means enjoying institutional backing and federal level protection through the APC headquarters. It is obvious the party will not allow its governor and elected officials to be intimidated or bullied by anyone who is not politically aligned with them”, he started.

Nyesom Wike has declared that he will frustrate governor Fubara’s reelection ambition in 2027. The former governor of Rivers state publicly stated that if he fails in preventing Fubara’s reelection in 2027 that it will amount to his going into political oblivion. He accuses his erstwhile political ally, the governor of Rivers state of betraying him and regrets sponsoring his governorship election campaign in 2023.
