Housewife in court for allegedly pouring hot water on husband

The Magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

A39-year-old housewife, Mariam Afolabi, was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly pouring hot water on her husband, Lukman.

Afolabi, was charged with assault and threat to life.

She pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 4, 2025, at Jericho area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant poured hot water on her husband after a little misunderstanding.

He said the defendant also threatened to kill him.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 86(1) and 355 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

She advised the defendant to learn to live in peace rather than engaging in violence.

“We can’t manage human beings unless we tolerate them, this is to allow peace to reign among us and not to give room for Satan,” Mrs Sanusi-Zubair said.

Mrs Sanusi-Zubair thereafter adjourned the case until March 23, for hearing.
