“He Is Now In The Kitchen”, Peter Odili Speaks On Fubara’s Defection To APC
Former governor of Rivers state, Peter Obi has described the defection of governor Sim Fubara of Rivers state to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as a necessity and beneficial to the people of Rivers state.
The former governor of Rivers state made the remark during the 8th Founders’ Day and 5th Convocation of PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, on Friday, 19th of December, highlighting the importance of Fubara’s switch to APC on Rivers state political leadership.
He lauded governor Sim Fubara for aligning Rivers state with the federal government, stating that such a political decision amounts to the state joining the league of other states that have direct access to the presidency and the attention of the APC controlled federal government.
He implored the people of Rivers state to queue behind governor Sim Fubara necessary for the common good of the Rivers state.
To illustrate his point, former governor Peter Odili stated that the governor joining the APC implies that he has now joined the kitchen where national cakes are being baked, and as such, he will will leverage such an opportunity for the general good of the Rivers state.
“So, the alignment of Rivers State with the Federal Government is perfect. We support it, we encourage it because our people are in the kitchen where the national cake is baked.”
Odili continued, “If you take a look at all those who work in the kitchen, they eat better than everybody else and they look better than everybody else.
“Let Rivers people align with the Federal Government behind our governor to ensure that the best that the state can get, we get it.”
Governor Sim Fubara’s defection to the APC has generated so much buzz due to his lingering feud with his political mentor and godfather, Nyesom Wike.
Fubara’s switching to the APC has been described by political commentators as his taking refuge in the presidency and a veritable means to his escaping from former governor Nyesom Wike’s strong grip.
Former governor Sim Fubara had during his declaration of his defection to the APC, stated that he did so to seek protection from presumably, Nyesom Wike and his political cohorts. He also declared that his joining the APC is to show his gratitude to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu whom he is determined to work for his reelection in 2027.
