Gunmen Reportedly Abduct Nurse, Three Others At Edo Community Health Centre

The incident reportedly occurred around 8:00 p.m. at the Makeke Maternity/Health Centre, where armed assailants seized the victims and took them away.

Makeke, a community in the Ososo Zone of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, has reportedly witnessed a shocking kidnapping incident, with four people, including the nurse on duty, abducted on Sunday evening.

The incident reportedly occurred around 8:00 p.m. at the Makeke Maternity/Health Centre, where armed assailants seized the victims and took them away.

A resident of the community expressed deep concern over the incident, citing growing insecurity in the area.

“Kidnapping of about four people just happened at Makeke Maternity/Health Centre today, February 8, 2026 at about 8:00 pm, the nurse on duty and three other persons were abducted and taken away,” the local resident said.

“The people of the community are worried considering their haplessness and insecurity.”

Akoko-Edo shares boundaries with Kogi and Ondo states, regions known for frequent abductions.

Observers say kidnappers often use these border communities as safe havens, exploiting the porous terrain to carry out attacks and evade law enforcement.

Efforts by SaharaReporters to reach the spokesperson for the state police command, ASP Eno Nkereuwem Ikoedem, were unsuccessful, as she neither answered calls to her mobile line nor responded to a message sent to her.
