Gunmen Kidnap Newly Inducted Medical Radiographer, Demand ₦200m Ransom
Tragedy struck as a newly inducted medical radiographer has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen, barely days after completing his induction into the medical profession.
According to reliable sources, the young health professional, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, was abducted on his way home after attending a family function. The assailants intercepted his vehicle, whisking him away to an undisclosed location.
Family members confirmed that the abductors have since reached out, demanding a ransom of ₦200 million for his release. The amount has sparked shock and anxiety, as relatives insist they cannot raise such an outrageous sum.
“This is heartbreaking. He just graduated, full of dreams and ready to serve the nation. Now these criminals are demanding an amount that is beyond our imagination,” a distraught family source lamented.
The incident has been reported to security agencies, with investigations said to be underway. However, concerns remain high over the increasing trend of kidnappings targeting professionals and young graduates in the country.
Human rights advocates and medical associations have condemned the abduction, calling on the government to intensify security measures to safeguard citizens, particularly health workers who are already in short supply across the nation.
The victim’s colleagues have also taken to social media, expressing their shock and praying for his safe return.
As at the time of filing this report, the family is pleading for public support, while security operatives continue their efforts to track down the abductors and rescue the victim unharmed.
