Gunmen Abduct Two Nigerian Immigration Officers In Benue, Demand N10million Ransom

The victims, Officer Oliver Orasuur and Officer David Shiaondo Iorwuese, were seized a few days ago along the Katsina-Ala – Ukum Road.

Gunmen have demanded a ransom of N10million for the release of two officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) abducted in Benue State.

According to reports, the abductors have contacted the families of the officers to press their demand for the ransom payment.

Reacting to the development, the NIS described the abduction as a critical moment for the Service and called for swift intervention, solidarity, and concerted efforts to secure the safe return of the victims.

In May, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officer, Simon Agbo, from his residence in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

A family member, who spoke with journalists, had recounted that the attackers arrived suddenly, fired sporadic gunshots into the air to cause panic, and then seized the officer at gunpoint.

It was noted that they dragged him away to an unknown destination, leaving other people at the scene unharmed.

Agbo, who was recently redeployed from Kwara State to the Benue Command in February, was reportedly relaxing with neighbours when the assailants stormed the area.

The kidnapping took place opposite NKST Church, Kuan, behind the Modern Market.

It was noted that the family had since been contacted by the kidnappers, who are demanded N20million as ransom for Agbo’s release at that time.
