Gunmen Abduct Fresh Nigerian Lawyer On His Way To Ekiti After Call To Bar Ceremony

A source familiar with the incident told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that the young lawyer was attacked on the highway, on his way from Abuja to Ekiti.

A newly inducted lawyer, Ajewole Dare Isaac, has been kidnapped by gunmen just days after he was called to the Nigerian Bar in Abuja, SaharaReporters has learnt.

Isaac, who was among the 942 new wigs formally admitted to the Bar at the November 2025 Call to Bar ceremony, was abducted last week while travelling to Ekiti State.

A source familiar with the incident told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that the young lawyer was attacked on the highway, on his way from Abuja to Ekiti.

“He barely survived law school. How will he pay ransom?” the source lamented. “This man that could barely feed in law school was kidnapped last week on his way to Ekiti after his Call to Bar.”

Isaac’s abduction remains a deep source of worry for his family.

At last week’s Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja, the Chairman of the Body of Benchers and former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, urged the 942 newly enrolled lawyers to uphold the highest ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.

He described the legal profession as a noble calling founded on integrity, discipline, and service, stressing that public trust in the justice system depends on the conduct of legal practitioners.

Justice Ariwoola said the Body of Benchers expects every new lawyer to demonstrate professionalism, avoid misconduct, and remain committed to the core values of the profession.
