Popular Nigerian cleric and spiritual leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a strong warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a recent prophetic declaration, the outspoken cleric cautioned that the wave of defections by governors and top political figures into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could ultimately backfire and work against Tinubu’s re-election ambition.
Primate Ayodele, known for his political prophecies and accurate predictions in past elections, advised the President and APC strategists to tread carefully, noting that the mass influx of politicians into the party is driven more by desperation than loyalty. He described the trend as a “political time bomb” that may destabilize the party and create internal chaos ahead of 2027.
The cleric emphasized that the ruling party is already burdened with internal divisions and unresolved grievances from aggrieved party members. According to him, the ongoing recruitment of politicians—especially those crossing over from opposition parties—will only deepen mistrust and increase the risk of betrayal during critical political moments.
He also warned that many of those joining APC are doing so for personal survival, not because they believe in Tinubu’s vision or the party’s ideology. In his words (paraphrased), “They will join you today and turn against you tomorrow. Mark my words, many of these defectors will be the reason APC struggles in 2027.”
Primate Ayodele further stated that if President Tinubu does not restructure his political alliances and focus on addressing the country’s economic challenges, his administration could face serious voter backlash. He advised the President to prioritize governance over politicking and warned that the current suffering of Nigerians—caused by inflation, unemployment, and insecurity—could erode whatever goodwill the administration still holds.
The warning comes at a time when Nigeria’s political landscape is witnessing intense realignments, with several opposition figures reportedly in talks to join the APC. While the ruling party sees this as a boost to its dominance, critics argue it reflects a weak opposition and opportunistic politics.
