From OAU to the USA –  A Story of Grit & Grace

From OAU to the USA –  A Story of Grit & Grace
Meet David Adedeji, a brilliant Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) graduate who refused to let strikes, funding setbacks, or visa delays stop his dreams.
Despite the 2022 ASUU strike, David pushed through, graduating with an outstanding 4.95 CGPA—one of the highest in his set. He used the strike period wisely, preparing for the SAT and scoring 1430, including 790 in Mathematics.
After applying to top global schools like Princeton and Oxford and facing funding challenges, his breakthrough finally came: a fully funded scholarship to study Computer & Information Science at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB).
Even visa delays and policy changes couldn’t stop him. On December 31, his visa was approved—and today, David is living his dream.
His message to young people:
“Your dreams are valid—even when the email comes late, even when the strike lasts long, and even when the visa date looks impossible.”
An inspiration to every Nigerian student out there
