Fr. Kelvin Ugwu Berates Man Seeking Donations for ‘Rest-In-Peace Cow’ For Dead Relative
Nigerian Catholic priest, Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, has criticized a man who sought financial assistance to buy a cow for a burial ceremony.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, October 7, Fr. Ugwu condemned the request, revealing that the man claimed the cow was mandatory for the burial and that the deceased would not rest in peace without it.
The priest advised the individual to inform his relatives that he can’t afford a “Rest-In-Peace cow.”
“It has been a long time since I looked for anyone’s trouble here. This is because I repented and decided to be peaceful, but someone just provoked that peace. The person is asking for a donation to buy a cow for the burial of his relative. I was like, in this Tinubu regime, people still buy cows for burial? People get mind oh,” he wrote.
It was his response that triggered this post. He said it is a requirement; otherwise, the d3ad person won’t rest in peace, and the villagers won’t allow him to participate in any village activities.
I don’t have time for nonsense. Blocked! Well, for you all. The price of a good and sizable cow is now between 1.5 million naira and 2 million naira, while the one that resembles a Ram Pro Max is around 900,000 naira.
