Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, on Tuesday narrowly escaped a mob attack at the palace of the District Head of Dutsi in Dutsi town, Dutsi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Sirika, who holds the traditional title of Marusan Katsina and serves as the district head of Shargalle in Dutsi Local Government, was reportedly at the palace on a condolence visit when the incident occurred.
Videos circulating online and shared by Katsina City News show chaotic scenes as an angry crowd gathered within and around the palace.
In one of the videos, a man was seen being forcefully dragged out of the palace amid loud shouts from the crowd as tensions rapidly escalated.
Another clip shows the individual being hurriedly rescued from the palace and driven away in a Honda car, apparently to prevent the situation from degenerating into mob violence.
SaharaReporters gathered that the intervention of aides and security operatives prevented what could have turned into a violent assault on the former minister.
The exact cause of the crowd’s anger remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.
In August 2025, the Katsina Emirate Council appointed Sirika, Governor Dikko Radda’s son Umar, and four others as additional district heads.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued in Katsina by Bello Ifo, Secretary to the Katsina Emirate Council.
According to the statement, Sirika was named the new Marusan Katsina and district head of Shargalle in Dutsi Local Government Area.
