FFK Accuses Opposition of Vicious Media Campaign against Matawalle

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has strongly criticised what he describes as a coordinated and malicious media campaign allegedly engineered by opposition figures against Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

Fani-Kayode argued that the attacks are unwarranted, especially considering Matawalle’s proven loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his deep involvement in the nation’s counterterrorism efforts. He noted that since Matawalle assumed office, his partnership with the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has led to significant breakthroughs in security operations.

According to him, more terrorists have been eliminated in the last two years under their combined leadership than in the previous eight years.

He expressed concern that many of these achievements have not been publicised, insisting that Nigerians deserve to be informed about the progress being made in safeguarding the country.

With the appointment of General Christopher Musa as Minister of Defence, Fani-Kayode said he has no doubt that the collaboration between Musa, Ribadu, Matawalle, and the new Service Chiefs will further strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and yield even greater results.
Speaking on his long-standing relationship with Matawalle, Fani-Kayode described him as a determined and fearless leader known for his uncompromising stance against the enemies of the state.

He said their friendship, which spans more than 15 years, is founded on shared convictions and a mutual dedication to national stability.
Fani-Kayode encouraged the Minister of State for Defence to stay focused and continue delivering on his mandate despite efforts to distract or undermine him. He affirmed that he, along with many others, has full confidence in Matawalle’s ability to contribute significantly to the nation’s defence sector.

He concluded by expressing strong support for Matawalle and confidence in his continued service to the nation.
