Femi Gbajabiamila Breaks Silence Amid Rumoured Rift President Tinubu
Former speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives and current chief of staff to president Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila has for the first time since media speculation about his rift with presidency began, issued a public statement.
Femi Gbajabiamila on 25th of December, through his Facebook page, wished Nigerians merry christmas, while urging Nigerians to be compassionate to one another and dedicate to praying for the unity and progress of Nigeria especially in the coming year, 2026
“As we celebrate this Christmas, let us cherish the values of community, compassion, and unity. May your holiday be filled with warmth, love, and joy.
Let us also take a moment to pray for our country, seeking peace and prosperity in the year ahead”.
Femi Gbajabiamila released the statement a few minutes after the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanugu debunked reports about Femi Gbajabiamila being relieved his position as the chief of staff to the president.
The presidential media aide in the rebuttal, explained that Femi Gbajabiamila still remains the president’s chief of staff while Hakeem Muri-Okunola who the media speculated to have replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Tinubu’s chief of staff, serves as the president private secretary.
Reliant.ng had reported about Femi Gbajabiamila falling out with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu who had wanted to sack him but for the intervention of Remi Tinubu who advised the president against such move citing infighting and escalation.
According to a source privy to the issue, Femi Gbajabiamila lost the president’s trust after investigation revealed that he reportedly collected bribes for appointment into president Tinubu’s government.
Hence, while he remains the chief of staff, his responsibility has been reduced as his office has become redundant– a means the presidency found veritable for his sabotaged. Hence, he is neither relevant nor influential as a president’s chief of staff.
The source also informed us that Femi Gbajabiamila who before this event was being considered for Lagos State governor in 2027, has been delisted from the list as Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Seyi Tinubu now rank higher in the pecking order.
Consequently, the former speaker of the House of Representatives is reportedly regretting accepting to resign his membership to the House of Representatives to serve as the president’s chief of staff.
