Former Minister of Aviation and staunch APC supporter, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), has launched a scathing attack on veteran journalist and politician Chief Dele Momodu, dismissing his recent description of President Bola Tinubu as a “dictator” akin to the late General Sani Abacha as evidence of “cognitive dissonance” and mental exhaustion.
In a lengthy post shared on his X account (@realFFK) earlier today, Fani-Kayode described Momodu—whom he affectionately called “Bobby Dee” and “my brother”—as appearing “drained, tired and broken” during his Sunday interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today with host Seun Okinbaloye. He suggested Momodu take a break from politics to “overhaul his intellectual engine.”
Fani-Kayode accused Momodu of being “uncharitable and disrespectful” toward President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, ministers, senators, and newly appointed ambassadors, many of whom he claimed have “far more experience” in governance. He further alleged that the comments insulted the “collective intelligence of the Nigerian people.”
The outspoken politician reserved his sharpest criticism for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party Momodu has been associated with in recent political maneuvers. He likened the ADC to a “badly patched up inflatable plastic life boat” that is engine-less, crew-less, and destined to fail in Nigeria’s turbulent political waters.
“It has no engine, no sails, no oars, no captain, no crew, no navigational equipment, no muscle, no firepower, no war chest, no destination and worse of all it is made of rubber and not steel,” Fani-Kayode wrote. He described the party as a “haven and pitiful gathering of vacuous, shallow, intellectual frauds and political renegades” lacking direction, gravitas, and strength.
He argued that the ADC’s struggles and failure to gain traction are self-inflicted, not due to any actions by President Tinubu or the APC. Instead, he pointed to mass defections to the APC as evidence of public confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.
“Political leaders & the Nigerian people are flocking to APC in droves… because they view the ADC as nothing but a collection of disingenuous, desperate and recycled political losers,” he stated.
In a dramatic religious turn, Fani-Kayode invoked biblical references, warning against “pagan murmurings, strange whispers, demonic divinations & conjuring projections of the Prophets of Baal & the Witch of Endor.” He predicted that Tinubu “started well, he is doing well & he will, by the grace of God, end well with no regrets in 2031.”
The post concluded with a personal appeal to Momodu: “I appeal to my brother Dele: leave the ranks of the forces of darkness and join us. You are far too good for the company you keep… Your presence in the ranks of the ADC is like that of a gentle, beautiful, well bred… flamingo trapped in a sea of ugly, cruel, loud, angry, starving, cackling & relentless crows & vultures. It does not befit you.”
The fiery response has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with supporters of both figures weighing in. It highlights deepening political divisions ahead of the 2027 elections, as opposition figures continue to critique the Tinubu administration while ruling party loyalists defend its record and dismiss challengers.
Momodu has not yet publicly responded to Fani-Kayode’s post as of this report. The exchange underscores the personal and ideological rifts within Nigeria’s elite political and media circles.
