Faleke Dismisses Report on Alleged One-Term Agreement in Kogi, Calls It Fabricated
Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, OON, has strongly denied claims that he was involved in, or aware of, any alleged one-term agreement in Kogi State purportedly directed by the Presidency.
In a statement released via his official Facebook page, the lawmaker described a report published by an online news platform, TrackNews, as false, misleading, and completely without factual foundation. The report had alleged that the Presidency instructed former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and the incumbent Governor, Usman Ododo, to honour a one-term agreement in which Faleke was allegedly involved.
Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, categorically refuted the claim, stating that he was never part of any discussion, arrangement, or agreement relating to a one-term deal in Kogi State.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I state unequivocally that I never had any discussion, nor was I privy to any conversation, arrangement, or agreement regarding a one-term deal in Kogi State or any related matter,” he said.
According to him, the publication has triggered a wave of calls and messages seeking clarification, making it necessary to address the issue publicly and firmly.
He urged the public to completely disregard the report, stressing that the story was a fabrication and should not be taken seriously.
Faleke reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and responsible public discourse, warning against the spread of unverified and sensational claims capable of misleading the public and heating up the political space unnecessarily.
