Fake Pastors Commit More Crimes” – Arrested Anambra Native Doctor Insists He Is Licensed, Not Involved in Crime
A native doctor recently arrested in Anambra State has sparked fresh controversy after insisting that he is a legitimate traditional practitioner and not involved in criminal activities. The suspect, whose identity was not immediately disclosed by authorities, maintained that accusations linking him to ritual practices and other crimes were false.

Speaking after his arrest, the traditionalist argued that attention should not only be focused on native doctors, claiming that individuals posing as religious leaders also commit crimes.

According to him, many traditional practitioners are wrongly stereotyped as criminals whenever security agencies clamp down on suspected ritualists.

“I am a licensed native doctor. I do my work according to the law. People should stop assuming that every traditionalist is a criminal,” he reportedly said.

He further alleged that some individuals pretending to be pastors are involved in even more questionable activities but often escape the same level of public scrutiny.

The suspect insisted that his shrine and practices are legitimate cultural and spiritual services, adding that he has never been involved in rituals, kidnappings, or any form of criminal activity.

Security operatives in Anambra State have intensified their crackdown on suspected ritualists and criminal networks in recent months as part of efforts to curb rising cases of kidnapping and ritual-related crimes in the region.

Authorities say the operations are aimed at restoring public confidence and ensuring that anyone linked to criminal activities is brought to justice, regardless of their religious or traditional affiliations.

However, the arrest has ignited debate among residents and on social media, with some defending traditional worship as part of cultural heritage, while others insist that the ongoing crackdown is necessary to curb ritual killings and other crimes.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that due process will be followed in determining the suspect’s involvement or innocence.
