Explosion Strikes New York Church, Seven Worshippers Hurt

Seven people have been injured following an explosion that severely damaged the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Boonville, Oneida County, upstate New York. According to Ireporter Online, the New York State Police confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday, disclosing that the blast occurred on Tuesday after reports of a strong gas odour within the church premises.

Authorities revealed that a firefighter was inside the building at the time of the explosion. The statement indicated that both the firefighter and a civilian sustained critical injuries, while five others were also hurt and transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Law enforcement officials noted that preliminary findings show no indication of criminal activity linked to the explosion.

In a separate development, panic erupted at the Bayelsa State Secretariat Complex in Yenagoa after a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated at about 6:00 a.m., disrupting official activities and prompting an immediate security response. Security operatives swiftly cordoned off the area to assess the situation and ensure public safety.

Confirming the incident, Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah, stated that no lives were lost and no property was damaged in the explosion. He explained that he personally led the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Special Drone Unit, and other tactical teams to the scene, where the situation was promptly contained. He assured the public that the command remains vigilant and committed to maintaining security across the state.
