‘Everything Is Gone’: Lagos Widow Cries Out As Home Built With Late Husband’s Pension Is Demolished By Alleged Land Grabbers

In a distressing video circulating online, the woman said the house was built using her late husband’s pension and had served as shelter for her and her children since 2023.

ANigerian widow has cried out for justice after her home, reportedly worth over N30 million, was allegedly demolished without notice by individuals claiming ownership of the land in Elerogbe area of Lagos State.

In a distressing video circulating online, the woman said the house was built using her late husband’s pension and had served as shelter for her and her children since 2023.

According to her account, the demolition was carried out abruptly while she was away at work, leaving her family homeless and their belongings destroyed.

“This is a home that I built for over 30 million with my husband’s pension. They just came from nowhere and said that we should leave, that they’ve already bought the land,” she said.

The widow alleged that the individuals, whom she identified as members of the Goloye and Ogunkwase families, forcefully pulled down her house along with other structures in the area.

She further claimed that her property was specifically targeted after she reported threats of demolition to the police.

“I reported at the police station when they said they wanted to break our house. The next thing, they came and demolished everything,” she added.

Videos from the scene show partially demolished buildings, scattered household items, and residents attempting to salvage what remains of their properties.

The family’s belongings have been placed outside, left exposed in the open.

The woman insisted that no officials of the Lagos State Government were involved in the exercise and that no prior eviction notice was served.

“This is my entire life savings. My husband’s pension, everything is gone. I don’t have anywhere to go with my children,” she lamented.

The widow has appealed to Nigerians and relevant authorities to intervene and ensure justice is served.
