Emirates Announces Flight Cancellations, To Resume Limited Operations Amid Middle East Conflict

Emirates has announced the cancellation of some flights scheduled for Monday, while stating that it expects to operate a limited flight schedule beginning from 10:00hrs Dubai local time.
This development comes amid the ongoing war between Iran and United States/Israel, which has now extended into other countries in the Middle East region. Dubai is a city within the United Arab Emirates.
In an update issued by the airline on Monday morning, the carrier noted that “unfortunately, some flights from today’s schedule have been cancelled.”
The airline added that it “expects to operate a limited schedule after 10:00hrs Dubai local time today (Monday).”
According to the statement, passengers affected by the cancellations will be contacted directly and offered alternative travel arrangements.
“Affected customers will receive a cancellation notice and will be advised on reaccommodation options,” the airline said.
Emirates advised travellers to confirm their flight status before travelling to the airport.
“Please check flight status on emirates.com to ensure your flight is operating before heading to the airport,” the airline added.
Passengers were also encouraged to amend their travel plans online if necessary. The airline said customers can modify bookings within a 72-hour window from their original departure time.
“You can amend bookings and rebook flights online within 72 hours of your original departure date by visiting emirat.es/managebooking or ‘Manage Your Booking’ on the Emirates app,” the airline said.
The airline further advised travellers who are unable to complete the process online to contact Emirates directly, while those who booked through travel agents should reach out to them for assistance.
“If you are unable to rebook, please contact us. If you booked with a travel agent, please contact them for rebooking,” the airline added.
Emirates concluded the update with an apology to affected passengers, stating, “We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
Last Saturday, SaharaReporters reported that the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence had disclosed that the country’s air defence systems intercepted multiple aerial threats launched from Iran, as tensions continue to escalate in the region.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Saturday, the ministry said that “UAE air defence systems on 14th March engaged 9 ballistic missiles and 33 UAVs launched from Iran.”
The disclosure highlighted the scale of the wave of attacks that the Gulf nation said it had to repel.
According to the ministry, the interceptions formed part of a broader pattern of hostilities since the beginning of what it described as “the onsets of the blatant Iranian aggression.”
It stated that its defence forces had repeatedly been forced to activate their air defence systems to neutralise incoming threats aimed at the country.
Providing a cumulative breakdown of the attacks, the ministry said that “since the onsets of the blatant Iranian aggression, UAE air defences have engaged 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1600 UAVs launched from Iran.”
The figures suggested a sustained barrage of aerial projectiles and drones that authorities said had targeted the United Arab Emirates over time.
The ministry also confirmed that the attacks had resulted in casualties and injuries involving people from several nationalities living and working in the country.
According to the statement, “these attacks have resulted in 6 fatalities of Emirati, Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals.”
It further disclosed that a significant number of individuals had sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attacks.
