Elon Musk Calls For Removal Of U.S. Judge For Shameful’ Early Release Of Criminal Who Killed College Student

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has slammed Judge Bentley Price’s decision to release Alexander Dickey after serving just 410 days of a 1,825-day sentence for third-degree burglary, calling it “shameful” and demanding the judge’s immediate removal from the bench.
Dickey, who had a criminal record of 39 arrests and 25 felonies, was released early despite his extensive history.
Weeks after his release, he allegedly broke into a Columbia, South Carolina home and fatally shot 22-year-old Logan Federico, a college student visiting friends.
“Shameful action by Judge Price. Remove him from the bench! Judge Bentley Price,” Musk wrote on his verified X handle on Wednesday.
Stephen Federico, the victim’s father, testified at a congressional hearing in Charlotte, North Carolina, urging lawmakers to impose stricter penalties for repeat offenders, as reported by Fox News.
“I will fight until my last breath for my daughter,” he said. “You need to fight for the rest of our children, the rest of the innocents, and stop protecting the people that keep taking them from us, please.”
He also pointed to Dickey’s long criminal history, saying, “When they saw his face on the video, they didn’t have to do a check. He was arrested so many times they knew who he was.”
Other victims’ families criticised the judicial system. Mia Alderman, whose granddaughter Mary Collins was murdered in 2020, said, “Five years is not justice. Five years is torment.”
She added, “Justice delayed is justice denied, and time is stealing our justice with the backlogged court system for murder trials, and Mary is not the only victim. … The same system that failed Mary failed Iryna.”
Dickey appeared in the Columbia Municipal Court facing multiple charges, including murder, burglary, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and grand larceny.
Authorities said he committed additional crimes using stolen cards after the murder, prompting a multi-county manhunt.
Stephen Federico praised community support, describing it as “hard to describe unless you go through it…”
“She needs justice, swift justice, and that’s what they’re helping us get by giving us time to get that,” he said.
