DSS Reportedly Detains Nnamdi Kanu’s Brother at Supreme Court Premises

Tensions flared at the Supreme Court premises in Abuja on Monday as Prince Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was reportedly blocked and held by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to eyewitness accounts, Prince Kanu had arrived at the Supreme Court earlier today to process legal documents related to Nnamdi Kanu’s case, which is scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. However, DSS personnel stationed at the court allegedly prevented him from entering the premises.

In a statement attributed to his wife, one of the DSS officers allegedly threatened to “jail” Prince Kanu after he questioned why he was being denied entry.

As of the time of filing this report, Prince Kanu was reportedly still being held within the court premises, sparking concern among family members, lawyers, and supporters.

The development comes on the eve of a crucial court date for Nnamdi Kanu, whose prolonged detention and trial have continued to draw widespread national and international attention. Kanu is currently representing himself in court after discharging his legal team and challenging the legality of his trial following his controversial rendition from Kenya in 2021.

Efforts to reach DSS officials for comment on the incident have so far been unsuccessful.
