Driver, Passenger Escape Unhurt as Tipper Crushes Car in Akure
Residents of Oba-Ile, near the popular Shasha Market in Akure, Ondo State, witnessed what many have described as a miracle on Thursday morning after a devastating road crash left a car completely wrecked — yet its occupants walked away unharmed.
The accident occurred when a tipper truck collided with a private vehicle at a busy junction in the area. Eyewitnesses said the car was heading from the Shasha axis while the tipper was approaching from the Airport Road direction when the two vehicles crashed.
The impact severely damaged the smaller vehicle, crushing it beyond recognition. However, in a surprising turn of events, the driver and his brother, who was seated in the front passenger seat, managed to come out of the vehicle without sustaining any injuries.
Onlookers who rushed to the scene expressed shock at how the two men survived the crash unhurt, describing their escape as nothing short of miraculous.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and officers of the Nigeria Police Force were present at the scene to manage traffic and carry out rescue and recovery operations as of the time this report was filed.
The incident caused temporary traffic disruption in the area, with commuters and traders around Shasha Market gathering to catch a glimpse of the wreckage.
