Drama Between Rufai Oseni And Abike Dabiri-Erewa

At the “Ethics of Governance” event on October 23rd at Eko Hotels, a tense moment unfolded. Rufai Oseni arrived late to the panel discussion. After sharing his thoughts, he greeted several attendees, including Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Hon. Dabiri confronted him about a post he made months earlier on X (formerly Twitter). This post falsely accused her of calling Igbos “monkeys and gorillas.” Rufai denied knowing anything harmful. Hon. Dabiri informed him that the offensive remarks were actually from an account named “Voice of Igbo,” run by a woman in Lagos, which used derogatory language against her.

Rufai claimed ignorance of this account. Hon. Dabiri emphasized that, as a journalist with Arise Television, he should verify his sources and avoid spreading misinformation. Despite Rufai’s attempts to clarify his stance to other attendees like John Momoh and Mahmud Alli Balogun, the situation grew tense.

When Hon. Dabiri began her panel session, Rufai, clearly uneasy, quietly left the venue.
