Deputy Governor’s Office To Spend N4.2Billion On Office Furniture, 30 Microphones In 2026
Between January and September 2025, a sum of N97.5 million had already been spent for this purpose, with an additional N4.247 billion planned for the 2026 fiscal year.
A review by SaharaReporters of the Lagos State approved budget for the 2026 fiscal year has shown that a sum of N4.2 billion is earmarked for the purchase of office furniture and 30 microphones by the office of the Deputy Governor.
According to the breakdown of the budget reviewed by SaharaReporters, the amount is meant for the “purchase of ten numbers executive table and chairs, forty number visitor chairs, one hundred and twenty (120) officers tables and chairs in DG’s (Deputy
Governor’s) office L, newly deployed PS and A&HR & other offices, purchase of thirty microphones for the delegates Con room for ODG”.
Between January and September 2025, a sum of N97.5 million had already been spent for this purpose, with an additional N4.247 billion planned for the 2026 fiscal year.
The state also plans to spend N467 million to renovate the main governor’s house, while the renovation of the Lagos State House in Abuja is expected to cost N5 billion.
Earlier, Sahara Reporters reported that Lagos State lawmakers plan to spend N55.4 billion on constructing residential quarters for members of the House of Assembly and beautifying the Assembly complex.
According to the budget breakdown, N35.4 billion has been allocated for the “construction of Permanent Legislative Quarters for Honourable Members of the Assembly, processing of documents, architectural designs, structural engineering, soil testing, pile work, and consultancy services, among others.

In total, the lawmakers plan to spend N55.4 billion on the construction of permanent residential quarters and related beautification of the Assembly complex.
Meanwhile, only N16 billion is budgeted for “MDA executed community based Capital Infrastructural Intervention” by the lawmakers.
Earlier, a SaharaReporters review of the Lagos State budget performance documents for 2025 and the last quarter of the year revealed that billions of naira were spent by members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on backup generators
a total of N4.5 billion was expended on the purchase of 40 50KVA backup generators for lawmakers during the period under review. The documents further showed that an additional N3.6 billion was spent on the acquisition of properties in Lagos and Abuja.
These expenditures were incurred by the Lagos State House of Assembly as part of its capital spending for the 2025 fiscal year.
Further findings from the budget performance report indicated that the Assembly had earlier planned significant spending on lawmakers’ welfare and infrastructure, including vehicles, renovation of the Assembly complex, and power supply, despite competing public infrastructure needs across the state.
