Dangote Signs Deal for Four New Fertiliser Plants as MURIC Rallies Behind Refinery
Dangote Fertiliser Limited (DFL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Germany’s Thyssenkrupp Uhde Fertiliser Technology (UFT) to build four new urea granulation units across Nigeria, expanding its footprint in the fertiliser industry.
According to the agreement, Thyssenkrupp Uhde will provide its advanced Fluid Bed Granulation Technology, along with a full Process Design Package and proprietary equipment such as granulators and scrubbers.
Thyssenkrupp Uhde’s CEO, Nadja Haakansson, said the deal reinforces both companies’ shared commitment to sustainable industrial growth and global food security. Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, described the partnership as a leap forward in Africa’s drive for agricultural self-sufficiency and industrial innovation.
“This collaboration reaffirms our goal to produce world-class urea fertiliser that meets global standards while minimising environmental impact,” Dangote said.
Meanwhile, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the National Assembly to shield the Dangote Petroleum Refinery from union disruptions, warning that Nigeria cannot afford another era of fuel shortages and black-market operations.
During a solidarity walk to the Lagos State House of Assembly, MURIC’s Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, accused some labour unions, particularly PENGASSAN and NUPENG; of trying to “strangulate” the refinery for selfish reasons.
“Nigeria cannot afford to jeopardize a $20 billion investment that has transformed our fuel supply. We must not allow anyone to destabilize the Dangote Refinery,” Akintola said, calling the refinery the “goose that lays Nigeria’s golden eggs.”
Receiving the group, Lagos lawmaker Stephen Ogundipe assured that the Assembly would continue to back investors like Dangote who are driving economic stability and job creation.
