Communities Cry Out as 5000 IUK Patriots Announce Mass Protest Against Alleged Land Grabbing
The Iwoye United Kingdom (IUK) Patriots have confirmed that their planned peaceful protest over alleged land grabbing in Ago-Iwoye will go ahead on Sunday, February 1, 2026, despite earlier calls for postponement.
In a statement released to Our Heritage Reporter online after an expanded leadership meeting held on January 27, the group said it carefully reviewed feedback from security authorities and community stakeholders before unanimously resolving to proceed with the demonstration.
The protest, according to the group, is aimed at drawing public attention to what it described as the destruction of farmlands, forceful land acquisition, and intimidation of villagers across several communities in Ago-Iwoye.

PRESS STATEMENT
( FIVE THOUSAND MEMBERS IWOYE UNITED KINGDOM IUK) PATRIOTS CONFIRM FEBRUARY 1 PEACEFUL PROTEST IN AGO-IWOYE OVER OBA EBUMAWE AGO -IWOYE LAND GRABBING
The five thousand members IUK Patriots hereby wishes to inform the general public, relevant authorities, and the media that an expanded meeting of its leadership and representatives of affected communities and villages was held on Tuesday, 27th January 2026, to review matters arising from its earlier engagements regarding the planned peaceful protest in Ago-Iwoye against land grabbing activities of Kabiyesi Ebumawe Ago-Iwoye, Oba Radaq Adesina Adenugba
After extensive deliberations, the meeting unanimously resolved to proceed with the peaceful protest as scheduled, having carefully considered feedback received from the Ago-Iwoye Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and other concerns earlier raised.
The group observed that the reasons advanced for postponement; namely the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Convocation Ceremony which will end on Saturday January 31st and the ongoing Egungun (Masquerade) Festival bear no direct relevance to the lawful exercise of citizens’ constitutional right to peaceful assembly, particularly as the convocation venue is far from the protest location within the town and it will end a day before the rescheduled peaceful protest day.
IUK Patriots further noted that the masquerade festival has been ongoing with public awareness prior to the rescheduled protest date and cannot, in good conscience, justify further delay in drawing attention to the persistent destruction of farmlands, forceful land grabbing, and deprivation of livelihoods suffered by vulnerable twenty five thousand villagers and 10 communities in Ago-Iwoye as well as ceaseless police, security agencies harassment and all forms of intimidation against noticeable hapless members of IUK Patriots group, allegedly orchestrated by Kabiyesi Ebumawe Ago-Iwoye, Oba Rasaq Adeshina Adenugba are brought to an end with immediate stoppage to further encroachments of any villages under Ago-Iwoye federating units, particularly Awori kingdom and other villages.
Accordingly, the peaceful protest will hold as follows:

Assembly & Take-Off Point:
Olopo-Merin Junction, Ago-Iwoye.
Relevant security agencies have been formally notified in line with the law, and it is expected that they will provide adequate protection to ensure a peaceful and orderly exercise.
IUK Patriots reiterate that this protest is peaceful, lawful, and non-violent, aimed solely at demanding justice, accountability, and the protection of ancestral, community, and individual lands & farmlands in Ago-Iwoye and its environs.
Members of the public, civil society organisations, and the media are invited to observe and cover the protest.
