CNG Buses to Cut Transport Fares From October 1, Rides as Low as ₦50, Says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu says Nigerians should begin to see lower transport fares from October 1 under the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme.

He said CNG and electric buses are already reducing fares in several states, with some Borno routes charging as low as ₦50–₦100.

In Kaduna, 100 CNG buses carried about 3.2 million passengers in their first year, saving commuters over ₦3.5 billion.

Tinubu said more than 120,000 vehicles have been converted to CNG, with over 400 conversion centres and 90 refuelling stations now operating nationwide.

He urged states to work with transport unions and operators to ensure cheaper fuel translates into lower fares for Nigerians.
