Cleric defiles two minors seeking spiritual favour
The Ekiti state police command has arrested an Islamic cleric identified as Rasaq for allegedly raping two 17-year-old girls who visited him for spiritual favour for their lives.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ekiti state, DSP Abutu Sunday, who paraded the cleric along with other suspected criminals arrested in the state, said the suspect had carnal knowledge of the minors
The PPRO explained that the incident that happened in Agbado-Ekiti, in the Gbonyin local government area of the state, was reported to the police by a relative of one of the victims before his arrest by the gender desk unit of the command.
The police spokesman said, “It was revealed that the victims, in their quest for spiritual favour, visited the suspect in his home who claimed to be an ALFA that has certain spiritual power.
“The suspect gave them certain soaps and claimed that the victims were going to receive favour after bathing with the soaps.
“In the meantime, the suspect forcefully had carnal knowledge of them at different times as part of the conditions for the soap to work effectively.”
Abutu disclosed that the operatives of the command also arrested a couple for alleged rape and maltreatment of a minor, causing her grievous bodily harm.
According to him, “investigation revealed that the victim is a younger sister to the wife, who stays with and hawks for her.
“It was revealed that on this faithful day, the victim was sent to Hawk as usual and decided to spend a sum of one hundred naira on food since she was hungry.
This act aggrieved her elder sister, who then decided to punish her by using a very hot electric iron on her, causing her serious harm.
“The victim further alleged that the sister’s husband forcefully had sexual intercourse with her on several occasions since June this year. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and will be arraigned accordingly.”
He disclosed that the suspects would soon be arraigned in court after the completion of investigations by the command. (Courtesy, excluding headline, Nigerian Tribune)
