Sources familiar with the development said the Olubadan joined his ancestors early on Sunday morning, January 2, 2022 at the age of 93 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

However, when contacted both UCH and the Popoyemoja, Ibadan Palace of the monarch, didn’t confirm the death of the monarch. They both asked reporters to wait for confirmation.

Toye Akinrinlola of UCH said, “we are still not aware but I am already working on it. I will get back to you as soon as possible.”

Contacts at the Palace said “I am not aware. The palace is calm. I cannot confirm to you.”

Prior to his coronation as the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan on March 4, 2016, Oba Adetunji was the Balogun of Ibadan land
