Be Prepared To Die, No Middle Ground – Adamu Garba Counters Sheikh Gumi On Negotiation With Terrorists
Political commentator and former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has applauded the nomination of ex-chief of defence staff, Christopher Musa for the position of the minister of Defence following the resignation of Mohammed Badaru Abubakar on health ground.
Adamu Garba while reacting to the nomination of Musa for minister of defence, sarcastically congratulated bandits and terròrists, implying that what they wished others (death) will now befall them.
He suggested that general Musa’s stance on insecurity is confrontational, meaning that he will be fully out to decimate bandits and terròrists rather than negotiate with them. Hence, he urged armed bandits and terròrists to either surrender now or wait to be kîlled under the new leadership of the defence ministry.
” Finally, I congratulate the terrorists, for what they wished others for, DEATH, has finally come to them. They should either surrender or die; no middle ground”, he wrote.
He explained that general Musa’s nomination for minister of defence is a direct response to the yearning of Nigerians who recognize his competence and sacrifice especially during his reign as the chief of defence staff.
“General Musa earned this office through merit, competency, and delivery, unlike the usual political consideration dominating ministerial positions. It can be said that he forms part of the Military Technocrats within the Tinubu Administration’s cabinet”.
“I congratulate President Tinubu for this well-informed decision. I congratulate General C.G Musa for his new role”.
“Most importantly, I congratulate Nigerians for standing firm on what is right, regardless of all other primordial considerations”.
Adamu Garba’s support for routing of terrorists and bandits ravaging Nigerians especially in the northeast, Northwest and north central of Nigeria’s federation, is a direct contradiction to the stance of popular Northern Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi who advocates for negotiation, forgiveness, reintegration and amnesty programme for armed bandits, citing that the bandits were forced into crime due to the government’s negligence of their existence and failure to make provisions for their survival outside crime.
The controversial cleric has for more than half a decade served as a mediator between local authorities in Nigeria and armed bandits. He had negotiated the release of abductees from bandits’ hostage sometimes involving ransom.
