Bandits strike again in Kebbi, Abduct several Residents

A day after 24 schoolgirls were rescued from b@ndits, Kurmaci community in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State experienced another violent attack. According to reports, over 30 armed b@ndits invaded the community on Wednesday night while residents were asleep, abd¥cting an unspecified number of people and leaving many inj¥red.

This marks the third att@ck on Kurmaci within a month. A resident, Aliyu Dan Galadima, told our correspondent:

“We have been att@cked repeatedly by b@ndits. Some of our people were k+lled, while those abd¥cted are yet to be released. This is one of the many att@cks we have witnessed here. It is unfortunate that this area has become a major target for b@ndits. We call on the government to station security operatives in the area so our people can go about their daily activities in peace.”

Days before this incident, another unspecified number of residents were reportedly abd¥cted in Gandun Wasagu, also in the local government area. The communities of Kurmaci, Gandun Wasagu, and Bena are particularly vulnerable due to their location along major b@ndit routes from Zamfara and Niger states.

When contacted, Kebbi State Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said he was unaware of the att@ck but would reach out to the local DPO for verification.

This latest incident underscores the persistent insecurity in border communities of Kebbi State, despite recent efforts to rescue abd¥cted schoolgirls and curb b@nditry in the region.
