Bandits Reportedly Kill Several Worshippers During Morning Prayer In Katsina Community

Some daredevil bandits have reportedly attacked and killed several people in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State during dawn prayers on Wednesday.
The attack took place inside a mosque in Na’alma community during the early morning prayer.

“Bandits have committed another massacre inside a mosque while the community was praying subhi,” a resident said.
“Na’alma community in Malumfashi Katsina is yet another victim of mass murder by bandits,” a source said.
“Babaro, who is known for such acts, was given a celebrity welcome just a few weeks ago in Kakumi,” a local source said.
Recently, on 19 August 2025, in the Unguwan Mantau community of the Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, gunmen had also attacked a mosque during dawn prayers, killing several worshippers.
Reports at the time indicated that at least 13 people were confirmed dead, while others sustained gunshot injuries.
The police later confirmed the incident, describing it as a coordinated assault by suspected bandits who opened fire on the congregation while prayers were ongoing.
The attack drew widespread condemnation across the state, with residents decrying the repeated targeting of worship centres.
In another incident in February 2025, bandits invaded Gidan Boka village in Faskari Local Government Area, killing over 20 residents and burning houses. Witnesses said the attackers carted away livestock and food items before escaping into the nearby forest.
In March 2025, the Katsina State Police Command also confirmed that bandits killed eight farmers in Kankara Local Government Area while they were working on their farmlands. The victims were reportedly ambushed and shot at close range.
