Bandits Attack Kaduna Community, Kill Several Residents, Abduct Others In Night Raid
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday night, plunging the community near Zaria into panic as gunmen stormed homes and fired gunshots into the air.
Suspected bandits have launched a deadly attack on a community in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing several residents and abducting others during a late-night raid that sent villagers fleeing for safety.
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday night, plunging the community near Zaria into panic as gunmen stormed homes and fired gunshots into the air.
Videos circulating on social media captured moments of chaos and terror as residents ran for their lives while gunshots echoed across the community.
One of the videos was shared on X by a user identified as Hon. Nuhu Sada, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the Kaduna State House of Assembly, who described the incident as a night of terror for the affected residents.

In one of the posts accompanying the video, Sada wrote: “Night of Terror in Makarfi, Zaria. This young boy watched helplessly as bandits kidnapped his grandmother. Is the North safe?”
Another video posted earlier by the same user suggested that the attack was still ongoing at the time it was recorded.
“Reports say bandits may have attacked Makarfi, Kaduna near Zaria tonight. People are screaming and running for their lives. Our hearts go out to the community. May they stay safe,” the post read.
One of the disturbing clips featured a young boy narrating how the armed attackers stormed his family’s home and assaulted members of the household before abducting his grandmother.
According to the boy, the attackers demanded their phones before physically assaulting some of the women in the house.
“When they came, my grandmother asked me to give them our phones, which I did. They slapped the wife of the house and injured a woman with the edge of their gun before taking my grandmother,” the boy said in the video.
He further revealed that the gunmen fled the community through the Tashan Maliki direction after carrying out the raid.
Other clips from the scene showed terrified residents shouting and running in different directions as gunshots “rained” in the background.
In one of the recordings, a voice could be heard repeatedly warning people not to move around as the attackers continued shooting.
The exact number of people killed or kidnapped during the attack has not yet been officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Kaduna State has witnessed repeated attacks by armed bandits in recent years, particularly in rural communities where residents have frequently complained about inadequate security presence.
When SaharaReporters reached out to the Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, his phone line was unreachable, and a message sent to him remained unanswered.
