Bandits Abduct Deputy Speaker
The Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Samaila Bambu, has been reportedly abducted by suspected bandits believed to be members of the notorious Lakurawa terrorist group.
According to local sources, the incident occurred late Friday night when the heavily armed assailants stormed Bambu’s residence, shooting sporadically before whisking him away to an unknown destination.
While details of the attack remain sketchy, residents described the operation as well-coordinated and terrifying, forcing many to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
Security operatives have since launched a manhunt to rescue the lawmaker and apprehend the perpetrators. The Kebbi State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Hon. Samaila Bambu, who represents one of the constituencies in Zuru Emirate, is a respected figure in the state’s legislative chamber and has been actively involved in grassroots development initiatives.
This latest abduction adds to the growing wave of insecurity in northern Nigeria, where banditry and kidnapping for ransom have continued to pose major challenges to peace and governance.
