Bandits Abduct Mother, One-Year-Old Baby, Another Victim In Kwara Midnight Attack

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred around midnight on Monday when the armed men reportedly stormed the community, firing sporadically before whisking away their victims.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted three persons, including a mother and her one-year-old child, in Gbale, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred around midnight on Monday when the armed men reportedly stormed the community, firing sporadically before whisking away their victims.

A source told SaharaReporters that the abducted individuals include Mrs. Aisha Yunusa Ndaman, her infant, and one Mr. Ishiaku Ndaman.

“They came around midnight, shooting into the air. They took Aisha Yunusa Ndaman, her one-year-old baby, and Ishiaku Ndaman,” the source said.

“The attack comes barely a day after the kidnapped children of a Point-of-Sale operator in Lafiagi, along with his two children, regained their freedom following the payment of millions of naira as ransom,” the source added.

“Similarly, on Sunday, a couple — Mallam Manko and his wife Rakiya — who were abducted in Ekko village near Lafiagi, also regained their freedom after days in captivity.”

Residents have expressed growing concern over the increasing wave of abductions in Edu Local Government Area, calling on security agencies and the state government to take urgent action to stem the attacks.

Efforts to get a reaction from the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

On August 8, 2025, SaharaReporters reported that gunmen suspected to be bandits had attacked the Babanla community in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing two people, including a police officer.

A source told SaharaReporters that the incident occurred while local vigilantes were holding a meeting in the area.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the bodies of a police officer and another man could be seen lying in a pool of blood.

SaharaReporters previously reported that residents of Ganmu Ahileri in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State had reportedly deserted their community following repeated bandit attacks and kidnappings.
