Avoid U.S. Airstrike Sites to Prevent Health Risks, Sokoto Govt Warns Residents

The Sokoto State Government has cautioned residents of communities affected by insecurity to stay away from areas hit by expl%sions, warning that exposure could pose serious health risks.

The warning was contained in a statement issued by the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, Abubakar Bawa, and made available to journalists in the state.

According to the statement, the advisory became necessary following reports that residents of Jabo town rushed to the scene of Thursday’s blast shortly after the incident occurred.

The government noted that such actions could have dangerous consequences for both humans and the environment, stressing that blast sites often contain haz+rdous substances.

Citing expert assessments, the statement explained that exposure to explosives or their residues could lead to several health complications, including skin irritation or burns from chemical contact, respiratory problems caused by inhaling tox+c fumes, and potential toxic+ty resulting from ingestion or prolonged exposure to explosive materials.

Reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives across the state, the government directed local government chairmen, traditional rulers, and religious leaders in high-risk areas to intensify public awareness campaigns on the dangers of visiting blast scenes.

Local government authorities were also instructed to ensure that all areas affected by expl%sions are properly cordoned off and made inaccessible to residents.

The Sokoto State Government further reassured citizens of its determination to secure the state and appealed for continued cooperation and support in maintaining public safety.
