Appeal Court Verdict Exposes APC’s Fraud, 2022 Osun LG Election Remains Null and Void – ZLP Berates Tinubu Over Withheld LG Funds
The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Osun State Chapter, has reacted strongly to the recent Appeal Court judgment delivered in Akure on Friday, June 13, 2025, which dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s attempt to revive a defunct appeal on the illegal October 15, 2022 local government elections in Osun State.
In a statement signed and released to our heritage reporter online news Nigeria by the State Chairman, Comrade & Engr. John Olufemi Adesuyi , the party declared the ruling as a total vindication of the truth — that the APC-sponsored LG elections were unconstitutional, null, and void.
The ZLP also condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued withholding of Osun State’s LG funds, describing it as an act of nepotism, executive arrogance, and political rascality that punishes the people of Osun for partisan reasons.

APPEAL COURT JUDGMENT EXPOSES APC DECEPTION: OSUN 2022 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION REMAINS NULL AND VOID — PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU’S NEPOTISM, ARROGANCE, AND RASCALITY RESPONSIBLE FOR WITHHOLDING OSUN LG FUNDS FOR 7 MONTHS
The Zenith Labour Party in Osun State wishes to address the people of Nigeria, and particularly the resilient citizens of Osun State, on the recent judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure on Friday, June 13, 2025, regarding the status of Local Government administration in our state.

1. The True Position of the Law
The Court of Appeal dismissed the APC’s frivolous attempt to relist an abandoned appeal against the Federal High Court ruling that had already declared the October 15, 2022 local government elections illegal, unconstitutional, and null and void.
This means the Federal High Court’s earlier judgment still stands and is binding: those who paraded themselves as “elected” local government officials have no legal standing whatsoever.
The Court of Appeal further held that APC’s negligence amounted to “self-inflicted injury” and reaffirmed the principle that equity aids the vigilant, not the indolent.

2. Exposing APC’s Falsehood and Propaganda
The APC in Osun has been spreading misleading claims that their sacked chairmen and councillors remain in office. This is nothing but political fraud aimed at deceiving unsuspecting citizens.
The reality is that no elected local government chairman exists in Osun State today. The only legal and binding position is the nullification of the 2022 election.
The judiciary has spoken clearly, and no amount of APC propaganda can overturn the truth.

3. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Nepotism, Arrogance, and Rascality
Beyond the APC’s deceit, it is shameful and condemnable that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has withheld Osun State’s local government allocations for over seven months.
This reckless action is unconstitutional, wicked, and amounts to political punishment against Osun people simply because the state is not governed by his party.
By withholding funds meant for grassroots development, Tinubu has displayed barefaced nepotism, executive arrogance, and political rascality — depriving ordinary citizens of roads, schools, hospitals, and essential services.
Local Government allocation is not a personal property of the President; it is a constitutional right of the Nigerian people at the grassroots level.

4. Our Demand and Call to Action
We demand the immediate release of all withheld Osun Local Government funds with accrued interest.
We call on the Supreme Court to fast-track all pending cases on local government autonomy to restore sanity, fairness, and justice.
We urge the good people of Osun State to remain vigilant, reject propaganda, and resist every form of political oppression and financial strangulation from the APC-led Federal Government.

The judgment of the Court of Appeal has once again exposed the deception of APC and vindicated the position of truth. We will not be silent while Osun State is denied her rights.
