APC PCC members decry neglect, warn Tinubu ahead of 2027
Members of the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused President Bola Tinubu of sidelining them in appointments and patronage, despite their pivotal role in his election victory.
In an open letter dated Monday, August 18, 2025, and signed by Alhaji Mohammed Mariam Alhassan, leader of the group, the PCC members warned that the continued neglect could weaken the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Alhassan congratulated the President, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and other party leaders on their recent by-election victories, describing them as proof of Tinubu’s “political doggedness, strategic leadership, and commitment to democratic consolidation.”
However, he stressed that sidelining PCC members—who carried Tinubu’s message across the country, defended his mandate in hostile terrains, and secured his win—posed “a strategic vulnerability” for the APC.
“The current perception of neglect in appointments and patronage towards many Campaign Council members is not just an internal grievance; it is a strategic vulnerability,” Alhassan said.
He argued that a motivated and united base remains the party’s strongest asset ahead of 2027:
“When key contributors feel valued, they double their efforts; when they feel overlooked, they disengage. Disengagement at this level creates openings for opponents to exploit.”
The group urged Tinubu to reward loyalty by deliberately including PCC members in governance, saying it would fortify his political machinery and secure his legacy.
“2027 is closer than it appears,” the letter warned, calling on Tinubu to consolidate alliances now to avoid cracks within the APC.
