Anti-Graft Agency Probes Ex-Governor Ganduje Over Alleged ₦4bn Diversion

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has launched an investigation into former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over allegations of diverting more than ₦4 billion belonging to the state.

According to a report by Aminiya, the funds were allegedly misappropriated through contracts awarded for infrastructural works linked to the Dala Inland Dry Port project. Investigations reportedly uncovered that about 20 percent of the state’s equity in the project was transferred to Ganduje’s family in 2020.

The move allegedly resulted in Kano State’s removal as a shareholder in the company, while members of Ganduje’s family were appointed as directors and stakeholders.

Sources close to the commission said the probe followed multiple petitions from concerned citizens accusing the former administration of diverting public funds.

Confirming the development, PCACC Chairman, Saidu Yahya, said the investigation was nearing completion.

“Yes, we received complaints from the public over the alleged diversion of more than ₦4 billion of Kano State funds to the Dala Inland Dry Port project by the former administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje,” Yahya stated.

He revealed that one suspect had been arrested, interrogated, and later released on bail after providing key information, while another suspect connected to the case was traced to Yola, Adamawa State.

Yahya added that the matter would soon be charged to court, noting that investigators had gathered sufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution.
