Taraba Governor’s Defection to APC a “Bold and Strategic Move,” Says Adviser
According to a recent report, Barrister Sani Marke, Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Legal Matters, issued a statement today, commending Governor Agbu Kefas’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Marke described the move as a “bold and strategic step” aimed at accelerating development and fostering political stability in Taraba State.
He hailed the defection as “an act of statesmanship and political foresight,” emphasizing that the decision reflects Governor Kefas’s commitment to Taraba’s growth above partisan considerations and aligns the state with new federal opportunities.
“Governor Agbu Kefas has once again proven that he is a true patriot who places the interests of Taraba first,” Marke stated. “His decision to align with the centre is not about political convenience but about expanding the frontiers of opportunities for our people. This strategic realignment will ensure that Taraba is not left behind in the developmental agenda of the Federal Government.”
Marke also commended leading APC figures including Senator David Jimkuta, Barrister Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi, Jerry Manwe, Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, and North East Zonal Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Salisu for their welcoming disposition. He described their response as evidence of both Governor Kefas’s bridge-building skills and the APC’s commitment to inclusive governance.
Calling the development a “historic turning point” for Taraba, Marke urged all citizens to rally behind the governor and reaffirmed his personal loyalty and support ahead of the 2027 elections.
This statement follows weeks of speculation about Kefas’s potential defection rumours that had intensified following similar movements by other PDP governors such as Peter Mbah of Enugu State. However, this appears to be the first official confirmation of the defection, as earlier reports had focused mainly on consultations and unverified claims.
