Alleged Assassination Attempt on Lt. Yerima – Military Deploys Personnel, Eight Patrol Vehicles to Gado Nasko Road

Fresh tension has gripped the Gado Nasko Road axis of Kubwa, Abuja, following reports that unidentified persons allegedly trailed Lieutenant A.M. Yerima on Sunday, prompting swift military action in the area.
According to security sources, the Nigerian military deployed a team of armed personnel alongside eight patrol vehicles to the neighbourhood late Sunday night as part of efforts to forestall any potential security breach and to ensure the safety of the officer reportedly targeted.
The alleged incident, though yet to be officially confirmed by the Nigerian Army, has generated concern among residents, many of whom noted an unusual presence of military assets around the area. Witnesses say patrol vehicles were positioned at strategic points, while officers conducted routine stop-and-search operations to deter possible threats.
One source familiar with the development said the quick deployment was a precautionary measure after intelligence suggested that suspicious individuals had been monitoring Lieutenant Yerima’s movement. “The military doesn’t take such reports lightly, especially when the safety of an officer might be at stake,” the source added.
Residents of Kubwa have expressed mixed reactions — while some praised the prompt response by the military, others voiced concerns about the growing insecurity around the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.
As of the time of writing, no arrests have been made, and details regarding the identities or motives of the alleged followers remain unclear. Security personnel have, however, continued surveillance in the area to prevent any escalation.
Authorities are expected to release an official statement as investigations progress.
