Akure’s Popular Traffic Officer “Eba” Regains Freedom After Days in Police Detention

Popular Akure traffic officer, widely known as Eba, has reportedly regained his freedom after spending several days in police detention at the Ondo State Police Command Headquarters.
Eba’s arrest had stirred reactions across social media and among residents of Akure, where he is well-known for his energetic and cheerful approach to controlling traffic in the city.

According to reports, the officer was detained shortly after a viral video surfaced showing him visiting a company in Akure that had earlier gifted him a plot of land in recognition of his outstanding service. In the video, Eba, dressed in his official uniform, expressed appreciation to the company and urged members of the public, including his friends and admirers, to patronize the firm — a gesture authorities reportedly viewed as a violation of the code of conduct.

His arrest drew mixed reactions, with many residents calling for his release, describing him as a “public servant with a good heart” who had brought joy and order to Akure roads.
Sources confirmed on Friday that the officer has now been released and reunited with his colleagues and supporters.

Residents have continued to celebrate the news, urging the authorities to instead reward his dedication and unique approach to duty, which has made him a local hero in the state capital.
