African Democratic Congress (ADC) stands as a beacon of genuine democratic renewal in Nigeria, rooted in the visionary foundation laid by its founder and pioneer National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu. Chief Nwosu built the party on principles of integrity, inclusivity, and people-centred governance. A platform that rejects the old politics of exclusion and embraces every Nigerian regardless of tribe, religion, or region. His selfless leadership transformed ADC from a fledgling movement into a national force committed to credible leadership and sustainable development.
Today, that legacy is not only preserved but actively expanded under the experienced and unifying guidance of former Senate President, Senator David Mark, as the current National Chairman. Senator Mark’s assumption of leadership, duly recognised by INEC, marks a new chapter of stability and strategic growth for the ADC. With decades of distinguished public service, including his pivotal role in stabilising Nigeria’s Senate, Mark brings proven capacity, discipline, and a deep commitment to constitutional democracy. Working closely with capable lieutenants like Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Mark-led National Working Committee is focused on building strong structures, reviewing the party’s constitution for deeper internal democracy, and preparing ADC to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027.
This is leadership that builds on Chief Nwosu’s sacrifice, not personal ambition, but collective progress. Regrettably, a handful of state chairmen have chosen the path of litigation, dragging the national leadership to court over internal disagreements and primaries. These actions, however well-intentioned some may claim, serve only as distractions at a critical moment when Nigeria needs unity and focus. Court cases do not register voters, they do not mobilise communities, and they certainly do not win elections. True ADC members and patriotic Nigerians must rise above these temporary noises.
The real battle is not in the courtroom but in the polling booths and the hearts of the people. Now is the time for every ADC member, supporter, and well-meaning Nigerian to ignore the noise and concentrate on what truly matters: massive nationwide registration of new members, ward-by-ward mobilisation, and aggressive promotion of the party’s message of hope, equity, and good governance. From the creeks of the Niger Delta to the savannah of the North and the hills of the East, ADC must be present, visible, and attractive. Let us channel our energy into building the structures that will deliver victory enrolling young people, women, professionals, and market leaders who believe Nigeria can be better.
Chief Ralph Nwosu handed over a united party with a clear vision. Senator David Mark is steering that vision forward with honour and determination. The distractions of a few will not derail us. Nigerians deserve better than recycled failures, they deserve united and undistracted African Democratic Congress.
