Adams Akor says mother was hospitalised before Mozambique match, dedicates AFCON goal to her
Akor Adams says his mother was admitted to a hospital just before Nigeria’s second-round game at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Super Eagles defeated Mozambique 4-0 in the second round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday.
Akor Adams played 86 minutes of the match. He scored the fourth goal of the game with a powerful shot in the 75th minute.
The strike was Adam’s first-ever AFCON goal and also his third goal for the Eagles.
Speaking after the match, Adams dedicated his goal to his mother, adding that she was taken to the hospital on the morning of the game.
He revealed that she is, however, “much better now”.
“The goal is dedicated to my mum. She is supposed to be here, but she is in a hospital. She was admitted this morning, but she is much better now,” Adams said.
“I am happy for the team. Victor had a fantastic game, and Lookman had a fantastic game. We came out with a victory, and we are happy. ”
